A message from the Library Director

I would like to welcome all new and returning students to BUE Library and to wish you a happy and successful new academic year. My staff and I will be glad to help you all we can to gain maximum benefit from using the Library. We have many facilities which are designed to give you the ability to choose from different learning areas such as group study rooms, silent study area, information literacy skills rooms, cultural room, cinema, exhibition area or social area.

Students will be given sessions on information skills which will include the use of the Library website and catalogue, the searching techniques for information and the evaluation of resources.

The Library is growing all the time. Its physical book stock has increased rapidly during the previous years and we also provide access to over 500,000 titles electronically on campus and off campus. You’ll see much more growth and development during your time in the University including the host of cultural activities. The Library’s book stock is organized by subject on the shelves and you’ll soon find your way around it.

As well as printed books the Library subscribes to a growing number of electronic databases which contain e-versions of many thousands of journals and books. Staff will be glad to help you to identify and use the e-resources that you need for your studies and training sessions will be held regularly on how to use the databases most effectively.

We look forward to meeting you in the library very soon.
